Figment Vs Realm Goggles

Further discussion regarding the BIM

We echo of a major news story that appeared in the American specialized media.
The USACE (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) will enforce the use of BIM methodology in all projects. Basically this means modeling and multi-disciplinary coordination, 4D planning, cost estimates based on the model, etc..
Such initiatives are certainly great news for the advancement and dissemination of BIM methodology. I am convinced that they will grow more and more initiatives of this kind, beginning with the American administration, and quickly followed by large corporations.
Anyway, the debate is almost immediate and parallel to the appearance of the news.
The fact lies in what is meant by USACE BIM (which we could question ourselves.) The term is very broad and supports many meanings. In
approach to USACE believes that BIM is not just a 3D model, which basically means 'interoperability'. This interoperability today presents certain difficulties in putting it into practice. Interoperability of software, as a promotional announced by the major manufacturers, leaves much to be desired and at each change of platform is inevitable loss of information.
Clearly we believe that BIM has to be underpinned by a robust software covering most of the process as possible and reserve the interoperability of the peripheral branches of the process.
